WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police have arrested the suspected July 28 fatal hit & run Jeep driver who seriously injured a woman and killed a man on Quaker Lane July 28.
On Thursday, Aug. 1, members of the Warwick Police Department, assisted by North Kingstown Police, arrested Dannys L. De Jesus Marcano, 24, at his North Kingstown home after Warwick Detectives located the fatal hit & run Jeep.
De Jesus Marcano has been charged with one count of Duty to stop in accidents resulting in death, and one count of Duty to stop in accidents resulting in serious bodily injury, and is being held for arraignment, which will be at the Noel Judicial Complex, 222 Quaker Lane at 9 a.m.
The fatal hit & run Jeep driver struck and seriously injured Logan Barboza, 26, of West Warwick, after she exited her car to help Nicholas Cote, 44, of Warwick, who she had just struck with her own vehicle. The driver then ran over Cote, who was lying in the street, killing him. The fatal hit & run driver then continued on Quaker Lane without stopping.
Barboza was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious bodily injuries.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to Nicholas Cote’s family, as well as our wishes for a strong recovery to Logan Barboza. And a special ‘Thank you’ to everyone that contributed to the speedy closure of this investigation,” Warwick Police said in a statement about the arrest.
