WPD Charges Man in Adams Street Hit & Run

WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police have arrested and charged Thomas Leamy, 25, of Warwick, RI, with felony assault and/or battery and driving on a suspended license in a May 26 Adams Street hit & run.

At 2:33 p.m. Thursday, members of the Warwick Police Department were dispatched to the area of 192 Adams Street for a report of a hit and run involving a blue Jeep that struck a pedestrian and left the scene. Officers investigated the incident, and Warwick Fire Department personnel tended to an adult male victim at the scene, who was later transported to Rhode Island Hospital. He is currently in critical condition.

Officers found the suspect’s Jeep shortly after and the occupants were interviewed by members of the Warwick Police Department Detective Division. The investigation resulted in the arrest of  Leamy for felony assault and/or battery and driving on a suspended license. Leamy was also held on two outstanding Third Division District Court bench warrants.
