WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police are asking the public’s help identifying a man who has reportedly attempted to pass fake $100 bills to local businesses.

Warwick Police posted photos of the a man they say has been stopping at businesses and people on the street to ask them to break the bill, saying that the gas station didn’t have enough to change it for him.

Angelica Penta, owner of Mike and Gel’s Pizza at 3003 West Shore Road, reported on her Facebook page the man has visited her restaurant.

“This guy just came to the back door at our place in Warwick,” she said. “He is trying to get change for a hundred but they are fake bills.”

She said her mother offered to change the bill for him, saying she would take it and be right back, he said “I will just come in,” and then left.

The man appears to be operating a late model Chevrolet Malibu, police report. If you see or know him please contact us at 468-4200.
