Warwick, RI — Officers were called to WalMart at 650 Bald Hill Road Nov. 27 at 3:26 a.m., learning that two brothers, 20 and 15-years-old, had teamed up to steal from the store, arresting the younger for shoplifting and the elder for conspiracy.

When Officer Javier Cabreja arrived at the store, two officers, Kevin McGuire and Jacob Elderkin, were already at the address.

The store’s loss prevention officer told Cabreja that the older brother, Jayvon Dovidio, 20, of 195 Urban Ave., Apt. #1Fl, North Providence, and the younger brother, had entered the electronics department and begun looking about suspiciously as they selected a video game. The younger brother headed toward the infants department, then took the game out of its package and hid it in his hooded sweatshirt, Cabreja reported.

Jayvon also selected a video game and attempted to remove it from the packaging but failed. He  gave it to his younger brother, who removed it and hid this game in his sweatshirt as well, according to the report.

The two then met their mother in the garden department, then all three headed toward the exit, passing the registers without attempting to pay for the video games.

Warwick officers and the store loss prevention officer approached the trio outside the store and asked them to come back inside, where the two games, worth $65 altogether, were discovered in the boys’ possession, according to Cabreja’s report.

Jayvon and his brother were fingerprinted and processed. The younger brother was charged with shoplifting. Jayvon was charged with conspiracy. He is scheduled to answer that charge in Third District Court on Jan. 4, Cabreja reported.

Both brothers were released into the custody of their mother.
