Warwick, RI – The Warwick Fire Department‘s Marine Task Force responded for a report of an overboard boater Saturday night, finding the Warwick man dead near Patience Island.
Kurt Blanchard of the Department of Environmental Management‘s law enforcement division identified the man as David Hall, 57, of Warwick.
Blanchard said said the DEM is still investigating the death, which he said is not suspicious. Blanchard said Hall and his wife were on the boat together when he left it intentionally, suffering a medical emergency while he was in the water, just north of Patience Island near Warwick neck.
Warwick emergency services received a call for a man on a motorboat who fell overboard at about 11 p.m. June 21, according to Warwick Fire Battalion Chief Fred Trudell. The Marine Task Force was activated, and a Warwick Fire boat, Marine 3, out of Oakland Beach Fire Station, responded. The three-man crew was on the scene within 18 minutes, finding Hall, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Blanchard said investigators are waiting the results of an autopsy expected later this week.
