WARWICK,RI — Mayor Frank Picozzi’s office has announced a Friday press conference at Conimicut Point Park to share details of a $775,000 federal grant awarded to the City of Warwick to restore the historic Conimicut Shoals Lighthouse.

Picozzi’s office announced the press conference will be held at 11 a.m.

The funding will be used to evaluate and restore the historic Conimicut Shoals Lighthouse. That work includes replacing railings, repairing the existing jetty, weatherproofing the structure and a complete repainting of the exterior shell. The money will also go towards building an interpretive educational kiosk in nearby Conimicut Point Park.

The city applied for the Community Project Funding grant last year through Congressman Jim Langevin’s office, according to Picozzi’s office.

Picozzi, Gov. Dan McKee, Congressman Jim Langevin, Speaker Joseph Shekarchi, and former lighthouse keeper Frank McCabe, and other city officials will attend.
