Warwick weekend events for Labor Day weekend involve local dining entertainment, a car wash and a full weekend of Elephants at the Cliff Walk in Newport.WARWICK, RI — This Labor Day Warwick Weekend events roundup features music and comedy at local venues, a car wash fundraiser and a last weekend for those seeking adventure in southern RI to check out Salve Regina’s Elephant Migration.

The weather for this week’s Warwick Weekend events promises a mix of sunny and cloudy skies, with high temps in the mid 70s, and a rainy Sunday before clearing again Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Warwick Weekend Events Friday:

All Or Nothing at O’Rourke’s Start your Labor Day weekend off on a festive note with live music and good food at O’Rourke’s Bar and Grill! Friday night enjoy the beats of @All Or Nothing a high-energy dance band that plays everything from Top 40, to Disco, Classic Rock, Motown, Rhythm & Blues and Oldies.
Comedy at Ollie’s Pub The laughs are on @Ollie’s Pub this Friday night. They’re hosting a free comedy show for all, and will have terrific food specials as well as drink specials. Doors open at 7 p.m., show is at 8 p.m. Kitchen hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Get there early, grab a good seat, enjoy good food and drinks, and prepare to laugh at at 941 West Shore Road in Conimicut Village.
Miles Leon at The Social House Savor the sweet sounds of Miles Leon’s saxophone, sip on a signature cocktail, and share a bite from their creatively prepared menu. Leon performs Friday, starting at 8 p.m. The Social House is at 3295 Post Road in historic Apponaug Village.

Goddard Park Farmer’s Market Every Friday through Columbus Day Weekend, RI Grown, DEM’s farmer’s market program, hosts farmer’s market at Goddard Park selling delicious and freshly-harvested local foods direct from the farm to your dinner table. This is the of the first Warwick Weekend events, and a an important one for local farmers.

Roger Williams Food Truck Fridays The Carousel campus at Roger Wiliams Park Zoo has a lot of open space and rolling hills shaded by trees, the perfect spot to grab dinner from a food truck and listen to music and entertainment during the park’s Food Truck Fridays event. The outdoor food truck festival at Carousel Village starts at 5 pm. Attendance is free, just pay for what you eat and drink from an ever changing rotation of more than 15 food trucks each week.

If you miss this one, don’t worry. They’re going on every Friday till the fall.

Norwood branch Library Building Club: Join other kids to create with Legos and Manga-tiles every Friday afternoon at the Norwood Branch.

Elephant Migration at Salve Regina U. Salve hosts a herd of life-size Indian elephant sculptures on campus as part of a Cliff Walk experience through Monday, Sept. 2. The project, The Great Elephant Migration (GEM), is a traveling public art exhibition and global fundraising initiative to inspire humans to share space. Salve will host the biggest herd of 52 on the lawn of McAuley Hall, which is publicly accessible from the Cliff Walk. Other herds can be viewed at the Rough Point, The Breakers and Great Friends Meetinghouse.

The U.S. Migration is presented by Art&Newport, founded by Salve alumna Dodie Kazanjian ’72, which aims to develop and host a series of city-wide visual arts presentations in Newport. From Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m, Salve Regina’s student Cliff Walk Ambassadors are available to educate visitors on the history and impact of the Cliff Walk and the Great Elephant Migration project.

While a drive and two bridges separate this attraction from the usual geographic area of Warwick Weekend events, the novel attraction combined with a long weekend seems a good reason for an exception to the usual rules.

Warwick Weekend Events Saturday:

Gary Gramolini at O’Rourke’s Saturday night brings the music of Gary Gramolini, lead guitar for John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, who is also involved in several other local groups and will be performing solo acoustic! Performances both evening start at 7 p.m. O’Rourkes is located in historic Pawtuxet Village.
Toll Gate Girls Volleyball Car Wash Drive your dusty car to 35 Veterans Memorial Drive Saturday from 9 a.m. till 12 p.m. and make a donation to get it washed, or just donate to the team.

Conimicut Village Farmers Market This Saturday, 9am-12 p.m., the Conimicut Village Farmer’s Market continues. The Conimicut Village Farmers Market at 955 West Shore Road. The market runs every Saturday until Sept. 28.
