Warwick Sets Pilgrim Sr. Center, Library, Thayer Arena as Cooling Centers

Warwick, RI – With the day’s temperature climbing into the 90s with 41 percent humidity, Warwick officials designated cooling centers at Pilgrim Senior Center on Pilgrim Avenue, Thayer Arena and Warwick Library’s main branch on Sandy Lane today.

The city was among several communities opening cooling centers throughout the state today, according to the RI Emergency Management Agency. Nearby, Coventry, East Greenwich and Cranston also opened cooling centers in response to the heat.

Pilgrim Senior Center at 27 Pilgrim Parkway is open for people to take a break from the heat during regular week day hours 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Thayer Arena at 975 Sandy Lane is open for breaks from the heat from  7 a.m. – 11 p.m. today (Wednesday).

Warwick Public Library at 600 Sandy Lane is available for breaks from the heat during regular hours from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.  Monday through Thursday.
