Warwick Police Log: DUI, Shoplifting, Simple Assault

Warwick, RI – The Warwick Police Department responded to 1,748 calls for service between June 19 and June 25, including 45 arrests; below are the arrests between June 19 and June 20:

Friday, June 19

• At 4:30 p.m., police arrested Gerrod King, 23, of 23 Meader St. Providence, after responding to a call reporting suspicious activity at Motel 6 at 20 Jefferson Blvd. and discovering King had a warrant for his arrest from Sixth District Court.
• At 5:51 p.m., police arrested Vanessa LaChance, 28, of 2050 New London Turnpike, Coventry, at JC Penney, 400 Bald Hill Road, charging her with shoplifting.
• At 6:03 p.m., police arrested Jean Carvalho, 36, of 186 Pleasant St., Providence, after making a traffic stop at 479 Oakland Beach Ave., on an outstanding warrant from Sixth District Court.
• At 6:36 p.m., police arrested Travis L. Purvis, 45, of 133 Aborn Ave., Warwick, during a traffic stop at 2194 Warwick Ave., charging him with driving after denial of his license, as well as bench warrants from Third District Court and Sixth District court, respectively.
• At 6:38 p.m., police arrested Gerald Sweet, 21, of 76 Haswil St., Warwick, on Custer Street, charging him with domestic disorderly conduct. The report noted he struck a woman in the face with a cell phone.
• At 10 p.m., police arrested Christine Lawrence, 48, of 303 Woodlawn Ave., Seekonk, MA, at Greenwood Liquors, 2725 Post Road, charging her with driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense, blood alcohol unknown.
• At 11 p.m., police arrested Isabel Gray, 18, of 23 Creighton Pl., Coventry, at 3200 West Shore Road, charging her with driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, and possession of marijuana, 1 oz or less.

Saturday, June 20

• At 1:28 a.m., police arrested Albert A. Silva, 22, of 47 Lane Four, Apt. 4,Warwick, at 156 Airport Road, charging him with driving after denial of his license.
• At 2:55 a.m., police arrested Johansen Romero, 37, of 63 Wyoming Ave., Warwick, at 105 Lincoln Ave., charging him with driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, blood alcohol content unknown, and citing him with refusing a chemical test.
• At 6:25 a.m., police arrested James R. Gushlaw, 25, of 29 Standard Ave., Apt. 1, West Warwick, at the Centreville Road park and ride, on an outstanding bench warrant from Fourth District Court.
• At 10:57 a.m., police arrested a 16-year-old male on Aurora Drive, charging him with simple assault.
• At 9:25 p.m., police arrested William Mitchell, 40, of 118 Chapmans Ave., Warwick, at Lemongrass Restaurant, 1138 Post Road, charging him with vandalism / malicious damage to property.
