Warwick Backs Trump, Sanders in Primary, In Step with RI

Warwick, RI — A large turnout of voters in the city backed Presidential anti-establishment candidates Senator Bernie Sanders and businessman Donald Trump for the Democrat and Republican tickets respectively Tuesday night, the Secretary of State’s website reports, as did voters statewide.

At 9:25 p.m. with two 92 of 144 precincts reporting in, Sanders had pulled ahead of Clinton with 55 percent of the statewide vote at 40,796 to 31,464, and Trump had begun to dominate with 71 percent of the vote at 25,666 to Gov. John Kasich’s 9,115.

At 10:26 p.m. with 100 percent of precincts reporting, Sanders was still ahead of Clinton with 54.7 percent of the vote, 66,720 to 52,493, and Trump had maintained his lead with 63 percent of the vote at 39,059 to Kasich’s 14,929.

By 9:50 p.m. in Warwick, with all precincts reporting, Sanders had bested Clinton in the city with 58.4 percent of the vote at 5,888 to 3,964, and Trump had won with 47.1 percent of the vote at 4,182 to Kasich’s 1,640.

Pilgrim Senior Center: 

Sanders over Clinton – 61 percent at 653 to 383

Trump over Kasich – 71.9 percent at 406 to 88.

National Guard Armory: 

Sanders over Clinton – 58.9 pecent at 494 to 324

Trump over Kasich – 74.1 percent at 424 to 102.

Aspray Boat House:

Sanders over Clinton – 57.8 percent at 908 to 631

Trump over Kasich – 65 percent at 505 to 252.

Shalom Apartments:

Sanders over Clinton – 51 percent at 460 to 420

Trump over Kasich – 68 percent at 454 to 141.
