WARWICK, RI — Tuesday is 2024 election day, and many Rhode Islanders have already cast their ballots, by early or mail-in voting, but whether you’re voting in person, by mail or watching the results, this is your voting guide to who’s facing whom.
The Rhode Island Board of Elections reported early and mail-in and early ballot numbers Monday at noon at 187,412 total. Votes won’t be tallied till after 8 p.m. on election night, however.
Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. – Be sure to double check your polling location with the RI Board of Elections. You will be allowed to cast your vote if you are in line at your polling location by 8 p.m.
Also, arrive prepared:
- A registered voter must go to their polling location to cast their ballot.
- A photo ID is Required.
- In RI, even if you have missed the deadline to register to vote, same-day voter registration allows you to vote for President and VP, the RI Board of Elections reminds.

President of the United States
This year’s Presidential race includes current Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris, Republican former president Donald Trump, Green Party Candidate Jill Stein, Socialism & Liberation Candidate Claudia De La Cruz and Libertarian Candidate Chase Oliver.
Representative in Congress
Incumbent Congressman Seth Magaziner, Democrat, is running against Republican Steven Corvi.
Senator in Congress
Incumbent Senator Sheldon Whitehouse is running against Republican Patricia Morgan.
RI Senate
RI Senate Dist. 29 Democrat Peter Appollonio, Jr. challenges incumbent Republican Anthony P. DeLuca, II
RI House
RI House Dist. 21 Democrat contender and current City Councilor James McElroy competes against Republican Marie Hopkins. The winner will serve in the seat currently held by current Democrat Dist. 21 Rep. Camille Vella-Wilkinson, who did not run for reelection.

Warwick City Council – Ward 2
Warwick City Council Ward 2 incumbent Jeremy Rix faces Republican challenger Bill Paola.
Warwick City Council – Ward 3
Ward 3 incumbent Democrat Timothy Howe is not running for re-election, leaving the 2024 race between Democrat Bryan J. Nappa and Republican Rick Cascella.
Warwick City Council – Ward 4
In Ward 4, Independent Joanne Miller is competing with Democrat Sal Deluise.
Warwick City Council – Ward 6
Incumbent Ward 6 Democrat Donna Travis, embroiled in a real estate controversy and misdemeanor charge for filing a false document, as well as a subsequent effort to quash public speech about it during a City Council meeting, is not running for reelection, leaving this year’s contest between Democrat Bill Muto and Republican Beth A. Lane Italiane.
Warwick City Council – Ward 7
This race pits Democrat John Kirby against independent candidates Jeffrey Chapdelaine and Roger Ceresi.
