Warwick, RI — As work continues on the Apponaug Circulator Project, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation and the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce [located right in the heart of the historic business district] maintain ongoing alerts for travelers.
Here’s the rundown of what’s happening in Apponaug and other areas of Warwick for the week of Oct. 6 to 11:
Post Road – West Shore Road to Veterans Memorial Drive:
Two travel lanes will continue to be closed during construction activities, beginning at 6 a.m. every weekday and ending around 4 p.m., according to RIDOT. New water service pipe will be installed at various locations along Post Road, along with a new gas main and service pipe. Installation of new utility poles will continue along Post Road.

Centerville Road [Rte. 117] – Diamond Hill Road to Tollgate Road:
National Grid Electric will continue relocation of overhead wires along Tollgate, Meadow & Gilbane. Once work is complete on Gilbane, the overhead wire relocation will move onto Centerville Road.
Veterans Memorial Drive – Post Road to Greenwich Avenue:
* One travel lane will be closed for gas and water main installation from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
* Construction of a new Verizon cell phone tower will continue behind the Warwick Fire Department.
* Two lanes are scheduled for closure starting Thursday night at 9 p.m. and continuing until 6 a.m. Friday. Expect delays.
Barton Corner Bridge median replacement:
RIDOT also announced that the work to replace the median along the Barton Corner Bridge corridor on Rte. 2 continues, with lane closures scheduled for 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights.
I-95 South paving:
Overnight lane closures are scheduled for Thursday [9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday] and Friday [10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday] as RIDOT continues paving on I-95 South from Cranston to Warwick.
No construction activity is scheduled for Apponaug Village proper, on Post Road from Centerville Road to West Shore Road, or for Greenwich Avenue from Veterans Memorial Drive to Centerville Road, until two-way traffic begins at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Drive and Post Road.
