Trooper Log: Erratic Driver Charged with DUI

WICKFORD BARRACKS: Erratic Driver Arrested for DUI

On Thursday, Aug. 29, at approximately 12:20 a.m., several 911 calls alerted Wickford Barracks troopers to an erratic operator traveling on Route 95 North in Warwick.

Troopers assigned to the Wickford Barracks took a traffic post and subsequently stopped the suspected motor vehicle for multiple traffic violations on Rte. 95 North in the City of Warwick.

As a result of the motor vehicle stop and subsequent investigation, including a Standardized Field Sobriety Test, troopers arrested the operator for Driving Under the Influence. Further investigation revealed that the subject had two prior convictions for Driving Under the Influence.

The operator, identified as Ariel Frometa, age 36, of 175 Cottage Street, Chelsea, MA, was taken into custody and transported to the Wickford Barracks where he was processed and held overnight. The subject is to be arraigned at Third District Court in Kent County on the following charges:

• Driving Under The Influence 3rd Offense B.A.C. Unknown

• Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test

• Driving on a Suspended License Certain Violations – D.U.I.

The charge of Driving Under the Influence 3rd Offense is a felony offense and a conviction requires a mandatory fine of $400.00, license suspension for a period of 2 to 3 years, and a sentence of not less than one year and not more than 3 years in jail.

Motorists are reminded that they can immediately report dangerous drivers or hazardous roadway conditions to the police by dialing 911 or *77 on your cell phone.

LINCOLN WOODS: Traffic stop leads to warrant arrest 

On Tuesday Aug. 26, at 1:30 p.m., troopers arrested Vincent J. Neri, age 27, of 45 Ledge St., Providence, RI, on a Third District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Disposition, on the original charge of Driving with a Suspended License, originating out of the Warwick Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 6 in the City of Providence. Neri was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed and later transported to the Third District.

DETECTIVES: Task Force Nabs Family Court Scofflaw

On Aug. 28, members of the Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Erik Monteiro, 28, of 20 Benedict Road, Warwick, RI, on a Family Court Body Attachment for Failure to Appear for Non-Support and Two Third District Court Bench Warrants for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the charge of Reckless Driving and Operating after Suspension.

Monteiro was turned over to Family Court officials in Providence.

LINCOLN BARRACKS: Traffic Stop Leads to Warrant Arrest of Man Wanted for Shoplifting

At 10:32 a.m. Aug. 30, troopers arrested Arturo Sanchez, age 50, of 109 Arnold St., Woonsocket, RI for: 1) Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the charge of Felony Shoplifting out of the Warwick Police Department, 2) Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Pre-Arraignment on the charge of Violation of a No Contact Order-3rd Offense out of the Woonsocket Police Department, 3) Third District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Payment Review on the charge of Violation of a No Contact Order out of the State Police Wickford Barracks.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 146 in the Town of Lincoln. Sanchez was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed and turned over to Superior Court.
