WARWICK, RI — Toll Gate High School’s Mock Trial Team has won the trials and will advance to the National High School Mock Trial Competition in Reno, Nevada, May 10-12 but first, they need a few thousand dollars.

Co-captain Rebecca Carcieri, a junior at the school, said the trip will cost them $8,000, and they’ve set up a GoFundme campaign to help them raise the cash, which they hope the community will help them with.

“Our experience at nationals would be life-changing and formative, allowing us to expand our perspectives on the legal system, challenge ourselves on a higher level of competition, and represent Rhode Island. A few years ago, this would have seemed unreachable, but now, it is within our grasp,” Carcieri wrote on the Gofundme page.

The money will help them with the registration fees, flights, lodging, and transportation.

“As a public school, it will be difficult to raise this money, so we are asking for donations to help fund this incredible opportunity. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will go a long way. Thank you so much for your support!” Carcieri wrote.
