Officer Nathaniel Gray arrived at the hotel and spoke with the car’s owner, who stated she had parked the car in the hotel lot at about 9 p.m. the previous night after arriving at the hotel. The next morning, at about 10 a.m., a fellow guest at the hotel alerted her that her tires had been stolen.
In the lot, the woman showed Gray the car, a gray 2022 Acura MDX, with its tires missing, the lug nuts on the ground nearby. The car had been left resting on concrete blocks, according to the report.
Gray met with the hotel security officer, who showed him part of the surveillance video for the night in question for footage of the area where the car had been parked. Gray reported he was not able to see the area the car was parked in when he viewed the video.
The hotel security officer told him that during his review of the entire video, he saw a black sedan, possibly a Nissan or Infinity, enter the lot at about 5:45 a.m. and leave at 5:55 a.m. The driver, who could not be clearly seen, exited his car briefly but did not do anything else in the video, the security officer stated, according to the report. He said it seemed suspicious because the person never entered the hotel.
Gray forwarded the report to the Criminal Investigation Unit.
