Warwick Parking Ban, Cancellations Ahead of Snowstorm

WARWICK, RI — There’s a Warwick Parking ban in effect till Monday, 9 a.m. and service cancellations coming in as the state prepares for the first snowstorm of the year, with a Winter Weather Advisory starting at 4 p.m. today.

The advisory remains in effect through 1 a.m. Monday. The National Weather Service warns travel could become difficult as 3 to 6 inches of snow is expected to fall during this time. The NWS predicts the heavy snow and 16 mph gusts Saturday night, with a rain-snow mix turning to all-snow after noon on Sunday and a high near 33 degrees.

Warwick is not alone in its parking ban, joining 23 statewide including Coventry, Cranston and West Warwick. Addiction Recovery Institute in Warwick and Roger Williams Park Zoo are also closed Sunday. There are also numerous religious services cancelled.

Rain, possibly mixed with snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 31. East wind 9 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Sunday
Snow, possibly mixed with rain, becoming all snow after noon. High near 33. North wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
