COVENTRY, RI — Members of Coventry schools  and athletics are mourning championship Ponaganset and Coventry High Schools hockey coach and former CHS Assistant Principal George Egan after his death Dec. 26, at 85. "It is with great sadness that the RIIL shares the news of the passing of George Egan, who spent the past five-plus decades serving Rhode Island high school student-athletes as an educator, hockey coach, statistician, sport director and much more," the Rhode Island Interscholastic League wrote on their Tumblr account Dec. 29 following word of Egan's death.
