Original post, Aug. 24, 5:30 a.m.:

WARWICK, RI — A Warwick man is in custody at the Adult Correctional Institutions, Cranston, after Rhode Island State Police charged him with being a fugitive from justice.

Christoper Laliberte, 41, with a last known address of 49 West Pontiac Ave., is the subject of a warrant from New Hampshire, according to state police.

Online court records show that Laliberte also had a warrant for his arrest in Rhode Island for failing to attend a hearing on a case of shoplifting and weapons possession brought by Lincoln Police in March, 2019.

On Aug. 19 in Kent County District Court, Judge Anthony Capraro ordered the case filed for one year.

That same day in a separate hearing, Laliberte waived an extradition hearing on the fugitive charge, and Judge Elaine T. Bucci ordered him held without bail at the ACI. He is next due in court on Sept. 17.
