WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police report they used video provided by a road rage victim to find and arrest a Cranston man recorded committing the assault Sept. 17 at 5:05 p.m. after the men exchanged rude gestures and words on Post Road near Balixe Toyota.

Officers Timothy Tavares and Matthew Moretti arrived at the dealership and spoke to the victim, who said he had been involved in a disagreement with a man in a black Toyota Avalon involving vulgarities and rude gestures. The disagreement ended with the other man reaching into his car in an attempt to pull him out, the victim told Tavares, according to the officer’s report.

The victim asked him to stop, and when the man appeared to be leaving the scene in his car, the victim followed him in his own car to the parking lot for the dealership. The man began recording the assailant, and began recording him with his phone. The man took exception to this, pushing him and knocking the phone from his hand, and got hold of it, throwing it to the ground. The man then left the scene, the victim said, according to the report.

Tavares reviewed the victim’s phone video, then comparing the other driver’s image to the DMV record of the license of the owner of the car, identifying him as Robert Judge, 53, of 817 Park Ave., Cranston. Officers Moretti, and Thomas Paine visited Judge at his home and arrested him. The officers transported him to Warwick Police headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Dr., where he was charged with one count of disorderly conduct, simple assault.

Judge was released with a summons to Third District Court on Oct. 9, 2018.
