RI Troopers Search Warwick Home Aiding MA State Police in Search for Cranston Man

Warwick, RI –  RI State Police searched 36 Stone Ave. this afternoon, aiding MA State Police in their investigation into the disappearance of a Cranston man last seen in Providence Aug. 10.

RI State Police Maj. Joseph Philbin said Friday that RI State Police searching the home were helping in the MA State Police investigation into the disappearance of Kerry Mello of Cranston, last seen in Providence Aug. 10, according to a report from Westport.wickedlocal.com.

Stone Avenue neighbors, who declined to be identified, said the RI State Police showed up on the street at about 12:30 p.m. Friday. State Police cruisers were parked in front of the house, and a crime lab truck was still parked in the home’s driveway at about 5 p.m.

The current occupant of the house, an older man who has lived there only about two months, left the house as the officers searched inside, neighbors said.

Philbin said RI State Police have been assisting MA State Police in the search for Mello during the last two months.

A report from the Providence Journal notes State Police also searched a Warwick home in relation to the case in August.
