WARWICK, RI — RI Trooper Log arrests  Feb. 10-12 involving Warwick included charges for reckless driving, DUI, illegal drugs and several missed court hearing arrests following traffic stops.

Here are the basics on those arrests:

Toll Gate Road stop, missed court At 11:18 a.m. Feb. 16, troopers arrested Luis Pena, 19, of 45 Whittier Ave., Providence, Rhode Island for 1.) Third District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment originating out of the Warwick Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Toll Gate Road, in the City of Warwick. Pena was transported to the Wickford Barracks, where he was processed and later turned over to Third Division District Court for arraignment.

Rte. 95 stop, DUI At 1:35 a.m. Feb. 16, Troopers arrested Gerald Hayes, age 52, of 226 Broadway Street, Newport, Rhode Island for 1.) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor/Drugs – BAC Unknown, 2.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in the City of Warwick. Hayes was transported to the Wickford Barracks, where he was processed and held overnight pending a morning arraignment.

Traffic stop, missed court At 1:45 p.m. Feb. 17, troopers arrested Kelly Barlow, 37, of 10 Cottage St., West Warwick, RI for a Kent County Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Restitution on the original charge of Driving Without Consent of Owner originating out of the Warwick Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Washington Street in the Town of West Warwick. The subject was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks where she was processed and later transported to Third Division District Court.

Possession of illegal drugs charges On Feb. 18. 2022 at 3 :46 p.m., troopers arrested Matthew Mclaughlin 36, of 254 Grove St., Apartment #2, Woonsocket, Rhode Island for 1.) Kent County Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Pre-Trial Conference on the original charge of Possession with Intent, originating out of the Warwick Police Department, 2.) Washington County Superior Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Sentencing on a Violation on the charge of Possession of Schedule I-V, originating out of South Kingstown Police Department, 3.) Sixth District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the charge of Obstruction, originating out of the Woonsocket Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Hartford Avenue in the Town of Johnston. The subject was transported to State Police Headquarters where he was processed and later turned over to the Adult Correctional institution – Men’s Intake Center.

Missed court, obtaining vehicles fraudulently At 3:20 p.m., troopers arrested Lynette Patton, 50, of 32 Palmer Ave. Cranston, Rhode Island for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the original charge of Obtaining Vehicles with Intent to Defraud originating out of the Johnston Police Department. Arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Centerville Road in the City of Warwick. Patton was transported to the Wickford Barracks where she was processed then transported to the Adult Correctional Institution – Women’s Intake.

Reckless driving Troopers arrested Edgar Matos Acosta, age 22, of 2264 Grand Avenue, Bronx, New York for Reckless Driving.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 in Warwick. Matos Acosta was transported to the Wickford Barracks where he was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released to the custody of a responsible adult.

 Obtaining money under false pretences At 10:30 p.m. Feb. 18, Troopers arrested Michael Costa, 38, of 87 Cedar Ave Apt. #6, East Providence RI, for 1) Providence Superior Court Full Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Restitution Review on the original charge of Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses originating out of the East Providence Police Department 2) Providence Superior Court Full Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Restitution Review on the original charge of Forgery and Counterfeiting originating out of the Cranston Police Department 3) Providence Superior Court Full Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Restitution Review on the original charge of Unlawful Breaking and Entering originating out of the East Providence Police Department. The arrest was a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in the City of Warwick. The subject was transported to the Wickford Barracks, processed and transported to the Adult Correctional Institute – Men’s Intake Center.

DUI At 12:56 a.m. Feb. 18, troopers arrested Adrian Phillips, 26, of 55 Walnut St, Waltham Ma, for 1) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and or Drugs – 1st Offense, BAC Unknown 2) Reckless Driving 3) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.
