RI Trooper Log: Driving to Endanger, DUI, Missed Hearings

Editor’s note: The following RI arrests recorded in the RI Trooper Log were reported by the RI State Police on their website. An arrest reflects charges against an individual, and does not indicate guilt or innocence.

WARWICK, RI — RI Trooper Log arrests Sept. 2- Sept. 6 involving Warwick included traffic stops, driving to endanger resulting in death, DUI, and missing court for a shoplifting charge.

Here are the details of those arrests:

Missed court, shoplifting charge At 10:03 a.m. Sept. 2, troopers arrested Juan Rivera, 57, of 488 Hartford Ave., Providence, Rhode Island on a Superior Court Full Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Cost Review on the original charge of Shoplifting originating out of the Providence Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 in Warwick. Rivera was transported to the Wickford Barracks, where he was processed and then turned over to Providence Superior Court.

Driving to endanger, death resulting At 11:35 a.m. Sept. 3, troopers arrested Andre Gilbert, 27, of 152 Gilbert, Warwick, Rhode Island for 1.) Driving to Endanger, Resulting in Death, 2.) Driving to Endanger, Resulting in Personal Injury.

The arrest followed a fatal motor vehicle investigation which occurred on Rte. 146 in Providence. Gilbert was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks where he was arraigned and later released after posting the required bail.

Missed court, suspended license charge At 11:13 p.m. Sept. 3, Troopers arrested Shyhiem Jones, 24, of 51 Park Holm, Newport, Rhode Island on a Second District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the original charge of Driving with a Suspended/Revoked License originating out of the Middletown Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 in Warwick. Jones was transported to the Wickford Barracks, where he was processed and then turned over to the Adult Correctional Facility – Men’s Intake Center.

DUI arrest, Rte. 95 south At 10:03 p.m. Sept. 4 Troopers arrested, Joshua Lima, age 31, of 36 Lydia Avenue, North Providence, Rhode Island for 1.) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and/or Drugs – First Offense, BAC Unknown and 2.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Breath Test – First Offense.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 South in Warwick. Lima was transported back to State Police Headquarters where he was processed, specially arraigned by the Justice of the Peace and released into the custody of a responsible adult.
