RI Trooper Log: Assault, Stolen Goods, Reckless Driving

WARWICK, RI — RI Trooper Log arrests in Rhode Island Feb. 18 through 22 involved charges for DUI,  reckless driving, assault of a healthcare worker, embezzlement and receiving stolen goods.

Here are the basics on those RI State Police arrests:

DUI arrest, Rte. 95 At approximately 12:37 a.m. Feb. 18, troopers arrested Benjamin Andrews, 28, of 489 A Victory Highway, West Greenwich, RI for 1.) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and or Drugs B.A.C Unknown- First Offense and 2.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 South in the City of Warwick. Andrews was transported to the BAT Mobile where he was processed and subsequently misdemeanor released into the custody of a responsible adult.

Reckless driving, Rte. 95 On Saturday, Feb. 18, at 1:32 p.m., troopers arrested Xavier Medina, 21, of 184 Cumberland St., Providence, for 1.) Reckless Driving and 2.) Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in damage to an attended vehicle.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle accident investigation on Rte. 95 North, in the City of Warwick. Medina was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and released pending a future court date.

Shoplifting warrant At 9:49 a.m. Feb. 18, troopers arrested Fernando Rivera Soto, 31, of 56 Maple Ave., West Warwick, RI for an Affidavit Arrest Warrant for Shoplifting originating out of the Warwick Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Providence Street in the Town of West Warwick. The subject was transported to State Police Hope Valley where he was processed and later turned over to Warwick Police Department.

Warrant, assault of healthcare worker At 11:24 p.m. Feb. 19, troopers arrested Michael Kriegel, 70, of 110 High St., Pawtucket, Rhode Island, for an Affidavit and Arrest warrant on the charge of Assault on Healthcare Worker originating out of the Warwick Police Department.
The arrest was the result of troopers conducting a warrant check at the Cranston Street Armory and locating Kriegel. Kriegel was turned over to the Warwick Police Department.

Warrant, embezzlement, conspiracy At 2:43 a.m. Feb. 19, troopers arrested Agustin Navedo, 34, of 40 Radcliffe Ave., Providence, Rhode Island for an Affidavit Arrest Warrant out of the Warwick Police Department for 1.) Embezzlement 2.) Fraudulent Conversion >100 and 3.) Conspiracy-Felony.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Hartford Ave in the City of Providence. The subject was transported to State Police Headquarters where he was processed and transported to the Warwick Police Department.

Receiving stolen goods At 2 a.m. Feb. 20, troopers arrested Eugene Grundy, 32, of 58 Milton Road, Warwick RI for Receiving Stolen Goods – Under $1,500. The arrest was a result of a motor vehicle stop on Branch Avenue, in Providence. Grundy was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed, and held pending morning arraignment in Sixth District Court where he will be presented as a violator.

Missed court, vandalism charge At 10:20 p.m. Feb. 21, troopers arrested Jared Leveille, 48, of 212 Harmony Ct., Warwick, for a Third District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the original charge of Vandalism originating out of the Warwick Police Department.

The arrest was a result of Troopers responding to the Cranston Street Armory for a call for service. The subject was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed, and turned over to the Adult Correctional Institution– Men’s Intake Center.
