RI Trooper Log Arrests: Mushrooms, Assault, Restitution

Editor’s note: The following Warwick, RI area arrests recorded in the RI Trooper Log were reported by the RIState Police on their website. An arrest reflects charges against an individual, and does not indicate guilt or innocence.

WARWICK, RI — State Police reports in the RI Trooper Log in Warwick  between July 22 and July 25  involved charges for DUI, illegal mushroom possession, assault and missing court, most stemming from traffic stops throughout the state.

Traffic stop, DUI, mushroom possession At 11:41 p.m. July 22, troopers arrested William Young, 54, of 4 Loyalist Drive, Uxbridge, Massachusetts for 1.) Possession of a Controlled Substance- Schedule I-V (Psilocybin Mushrooms), 2.) Possession of Marijuana- Greater than 1 Ounce, 3.) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor/ Drugs 1st offense/ B.A.C. Unknown, and 4.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 in Warwick. Subject was transported to the Wickford Barracks where he was processed and held overnight pending morning arraignment.

Missed court on weapon charge At 2:16 a.m. July 23, troopers arrested Angel Rojas, 39, of 251 West Main St., Niantic, CT for a Fourth Division District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the Charge of Possession of a Weapon Not a Firearm.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in the City of Warwick. Rojas was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks, processed and later turned over to the Adult Correctional Institution Men’s Intake Center.

Traffic stop, missed restitution review At 10:42 a.m. July 24, troopers arrested Derek Leblanc, 29, of 259 Buttonwood Avenue, Warwick, RI for: 1) Kent County Superior Court Full Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Restitution Review on the original charge of Shoplifting, originating out of the Warwick Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Plainfield Street, in the City of Providence. Leblanc was transported to State Police Headquarters, processed, and later turned over to Superior Court.

Traffic stop, assault charge warrant At 2:12 p.m. July 25, troopers arrested Samantha White, 38, of 289 Friendship St., Providence, RI for 1) Affidavit/ Arrest Warrant on the charge of Simple Assault, which originated from the Warwick Police Department. 2) Providence Superior Court Warrant for Failure to Appear for Sentencing on the original charge of Felony Assault out of the Providence Police Department.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Hartford Avenue in the City of Providence. White was transported to State Police Headquarters where she was processed and turned over to the Warwick Police Department.
