

WARWICK, RI —If you want a say in which Democrat runs for mayor in November, who runs unopposed on the ballot for two state Senate seats and City Council Ward 8, or against Democrat Camille Vella Wilkinson for Dist. 21 State rep, or who faces Independent Mike Penta for Ward 4 City Council, you’ll need to be registered to vote by Aug. 13.
Democratic voters will choose among four primary candidates to face off against Republican mayoral candidate Susan Stenhouse during the Sept. 12 state wide primary: Mayor Joseph Solomon Sr., endorsed by the Democratic Party, Richard Corrente, Gerald Carbone and Vincent M. Ferla.
Primary voters will also chose from Democrats James McElroy, endorsed, or Ernest Flagg to run against independent Mike Penta for the Ward 4 City Council seat in November.
One Democratic candidate will win an unopposed spot on the ballot for Ward 8 City Council: School Committee Chair Beth Furtado, who has the Democratic endorsement, or Anthony Sinapi.
Two Democratic Warwick representatives for State Senate will run unopposed on the ballot following the primary. Primary voters will have their choice of incumbent Sen. Michael McCaffrey or primary challenger Jennifer T. Rourke to represent Senate Dist. 29. Voters will also choose from incumbent Sen. Jeanine Calkin and challenger Mark P. McKenney for Senate Dist. 30, who is endorsed by the Democratic Party.
In order to register, you must be at least 18 years old by Nov. 4, 2018, a resident of Rhode Island and a U.S. citizen. You can register at the Board of Canvassers, located on the first floor of City Hall, 3275 Post Road.
