Warwick, RI – Warwick Police solved a supposed car theft at the Warwick Mall that turned out to be a misplaced vehicle and took a report about a thief who cleaned out all of a George Arden Avenue resident’s bird feeders early this month.
Toyota Camry Misplaced, not Stolen, at Warwick Mall
On July 10 at about 2:40 p.m., Officer James Vible responded to Macy’s Department store at the Warwick Mall for a report of a car theft.
Vible met with Manuel Ventura, 23, who told him he had borrowed his friend’s black 1998 Toyota Camry for their trip to the mall. When they left the mall at about 2 p.m., Ventura said, the Camry was missing.
Vible checked with the owner of the vehicle, confirming that he had not taken it back. He requested surveillance footage of the lot for the hours between 1 and 3 p.m., and forwarded the case to the detective division.
The following day on July 11, Sgt. Eric Falcofsky solved the case, discovering the car had not been stolen, but merely misplaced by the driver. Falcofsky found the Camry in the Macy’s lot, with no apparent damage or tampering.
