Officer Evacuates Family of Six From Burning Home

Warwick, RI – Officer David Waddington was patrolling early this morning when he saw the home at 975 Narragansset Parkway engulfed in heavy flames, rescuing four adults, two children, and two dogs from the home.

Waddington, an 11-year veteran officer, also alerted Warwick Firefighters to the blaze at about 12:31 a.m., and a crew responded,   extinguishing the fire, according to a release posted to the WPD Facebook page this morning.

One man, a resident of the home, was treated by Warwick Fire for smoke inhalation. There were no other injuries to the home’s occupants. One firefighter was transported to Kent Hospital with minor injuries, police report.

The American Red Cross assisted the family with shelter.
