WARWICK, RI — A swerving black Nissan Sentra on Post Road drew Officer Cody Wild’s attention Nov. 17 at 1:56 a.m., then his traffic stop and arrest of the driver on a DUI charge at the Crest Avenue intersection.
After the driver made several attempts to retrieve his wallet for the officer, Wild identified him as Kaolin Bodin, 29, of 57 Naughton Ave., Warwick, according to the officer’s report. During the exchange, Wild noted a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, and that his eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slurred.
Bodi told Naughton he had been returning home from a night in Providence, and that he had had two beers.
Wild asked Bodin to perform a series of sobriety tests, which he refused. Wild arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, and transported him to Warwick Police Headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive, where he also refused to submit to a breath test of his blood alcohol level.
Wild charged Bodin with DUI, first offense, blood alcohol unknown, with a Nov. 26 date in Third District Court. He was also cited for refusing the test and lane violations.
