Downdetector.com reported Instagram suffered a peak of 82,000 outage complaints between 10 a.m. and noon Tuesday, with many of the outages clearing up, and the reports slowly dwindling to about 1,000 by 2 p.m. Similarly, Facebook suffered a peak of 625,000 outage complaints between 10 a.m. and noon, diminishing to about 7,000 by 2 p.m.
Many people continued to report troubles sharing photos and logging in to their accounts an hour after Facebook posted its return to service at 1:09 p.m. “And we’re back. So sorry for those who were unable to access Facebook earlier today,” Facebook posted on their own page.
But many people continued to complain of lingering issues with the services on Downdetector.com, including two-factor authentication codes which were not working and problems sharing photos.
“Anybody else use the 2 factor authentication on FB and still can’t get logged in? #facebook it won’t send me the code,” Tweeted @Stabi about an hour after Facebook announced it had restored service.
