McVeigh found the gray Saturn Ion parked in front of 93 Reynolds Ave., missing its front license plate. The rear plate was a MA registration, which a check with dispatch revealed the car had been reported stolen from Pawtucket, according to the officer’s report.
McVeigh turned off the car, which the officer described as a general mess inside, and removed the keys from the ignition, he reported. He also checked the trunk, finding only two tires and two empty bags.
Officer Christopher Cote also responded to the call and checked the area for the driver of the Ion, but didn’t find anyone, according to McVeigh’s report.
Cote spoke with the caller who’d made the report, who said that he gotten into his Pontiac Bonneville, parked at his home on Haswill Street, at about 2:10 a.m. He realized the interior dome light was on, that change that he kept in his car was missing, and his car door had been ajar.
He noticed the Saturn running nearby, decided to walk his neighborhood, and also called police, he said, according to the report.
The Saturn was towed to Bill’s Towing, and Pawtucket Police were notified that the car had been found. McVeigh also sent a letter to the owner, Esteef Aziz, 29, of 4 Franklin Ave., North Attleboro, to notify him that his car had been found.
