WARWICK, RI — RI Airport Corporation’s relocation of Main Avenue to accommodate the expansion of TF Green Airport’s runway wrapped Thursday with a multi-phase opening of the new re-routed road over several hours.

The extension of Runway 5-23 requires the relocation of a portion of Main Avenue in the area between Warwick Industrial Drive and just west of Greeley Avenue. Mayor Avedisian took a look at the new Main Avenue yesterday afternoon ahead of the closing of the old street and the opening of the new one.

“We ask all drivers to allow extra travel time as we adjust to the new traffic patterns. The WPD-Traffic Division will be out in full force to help alleviate driver confusion,” Avedisian’s office announced on his Facebook page.
