Lakewood Baptist Hosts Food Bank Benefit Concert Sunday Night

WARWICK, RI — Lakewood Baptist Church’s 17th annual Benefit Concert for the RI Food Bank is this Sunday at 6:30 p.m., and you’re invited to enjoy several church bands, if you’ve got food donations with you.

The concert boasts performances from bands assembled by Lakewood Baptist Church, Norwood Baptist Church, Pawtuxet Baptist Church, Warwick Central Baptist Church, Spring Green Memorial Church, Phenix Baptist Church, Woodbury Union Church, Presbyterian, Acoaxet Chapel from Westport, MA and the Silver Tops (representing three churches).

The concert was started in 2003 by former Pastor Rev. Nancie Mooney along with the help of church member Lincoln Smith, who took on organizing the event in 2004.

“I can’t believe I have been doing this for 17 years,” Smith said.

Admission to the concert at the church, located at 255 Atlantic Ave., requires at least one non-perishable food item(A free-will offering for the food bank will also be taken – you can make
