WARWICK, RI — Members of Kent Hospital’s DEI – Diversity Equity and Inclusion Council – put in some gardening work for a landscaping beautification project outside of the hospital’s main entrance Tuesday.

The project included placing several dozen plants along the drive lanes that welcome visitors to the hospital. DEI council members were joined by Kevin Martins, Ed.D., Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, Care New England Health System.

Care New England has established DEI councils at each of its hospitals and medical centers, charged with creating safe spaces for employees to exchange ideas and address concerns to improve both employee and patient outcomes centered around diversity, equity, and inclusionary practices. The councils work to establish a framework of activity for their participants that center around addressing equitable solutions that reach across a broad spectrum of activities in order to make an impact.
