Warwick, RI – The weekend forecast promises 70 degree weather and no rain, which will aid a few interesting diversions in Warwick this weekend, ranging from a biker rally to raise cancer research funds Saturday to a dog adoption day Sunday.
Saturday, June 6:
Bikers for Birthdays – Show up early at 10:30 a.m. at Ocean State Harley Davidson, 5 Albany Road, for a leisurely look at several motorcycles as they register for the Bikers for Birthdays ride to benefit the Amercian Cancer Society.
The motorcycle ride, sponsored by the Coventry Relay for Life team Jan’s Stars and Stripes, will run from Warwick through RI and CT, ending at Club Jogues in Coventry at 174 Boston St. The ride steps off at noon.
For more information, call Wanita Johnson, 401-392-1225.
Sunday, June 7:
Super Dog Adoption Day – More than 300 dogs and puppies will be at Balise Toyota June 7 from noon to 4 p.m. (Pre-Screened Applicants get in at 10 a.m.).
Attendees will get to know the dogs in a relaxed, family friendly setting. All the dogs are on leash or in open fenced play areas so that you can see how great they are with other dogs and amongst people. This will allow the rescue organizations to see how a family interacts with a particular rescued dog and families can determine which dog fits in well with their lifestyle.
Visit the event’s website to learn more, and to view online adoption applications.
Totally Kids Family Fun Day – On Sunday, June 7, Totally Kids Day Care is hosting a Family Fun Day at Goddard Park from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. near the clubhouse.
Proceeds from a raffle at the event will go towards a flagpole for the center in memory of Brianna Houle.
Avedisian Conducts at Warwick Symphony Orchestra – Mayor Scott Avedisian will serve as a guest conductor for the encore of the Warwick Symphony Orchestra’s (WSO) concert on Sunday at the Goddard Park Carousel. The concert begins at 2 p.m. The park is located at 1095 Ives Road, in the Potowomut section of Warwick.
Avedisian is slated to conduct the Stars and Stripes at the concert, which is part of the WSO’s “The Golden Age of Broadway” Spring Pops Series.
