

PROVIDENCE — The Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment March 18 charging Michael Soares, 33, of Pawtucket, with one count of murder in the killing of Warwick resident John Fay, 66, in Warwick City Park May 17, 2013.
RI Attorney General Peter Neronha reported the indictment Thursday.
Warwick Police detectives arrested Soares and charged him with the murder Feb. 5 after matching his DNA to to the murder scene DNA samples.
“We still do not have a motive for this crime,” WPD Capt. Joseph Hopkins
said at the time, noting that the investigation remains active.
Soares had interacted with police numerous times as he lived in his truck, a green 1998 Ford Ranger pickup, which he later spray painted black, staying in it at parks and locations in Warwick, and surrounding communities.

Soares is being held without bail at the ACI and is scheduled to be arraigned on April 11, 2019 in Kent County Superior Court.
This is a test
