CRANSTON, RI —  Food insecurity – lacking reliable access to food – affects about 57,000 Rhode Islanders — people the RI Community Food Bank serves — and you can help them do that at Friday’s Empty Bowl fundraiser, where you’ll get a hand-made bowl and food from 35 restaurants for your trouble at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston.

Admission is  $45 in advance/$50 at the door ($150 if you’d like to register as a patron), giving you your choice of  handmade artisanal bowls (which you can select on the fundraiser’s Facebook page) you can use to sample soup, bread and dessert from 35 local restaurants. Keep the bowl.

The fundraiser runs 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
