COVENTRY, RI — This week’s Coventry Weekend events lineup include Earth Day celebrations at the DPW and Whipple Conservation Area, plus a horseshoe competition at Club Joques on Boston Street.
The Coventry Weekend events weather forecast calls for alternately cloudy and sunny skies, and temps in the low to mid 50s throughout, with sunny or partly sunny skies Friday and Saturday, then a chance of rain Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Coventry Youth Basketball Coventry Youth Basketball plays tonight, 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. at Blackrock Elementary School’s gym. Coventry Youth Basketball Association, Inc. promotes the game of basketball among the youth in Coventry, RI by teaching fundamental basketball skills in a positive environment of sportsmanship and teamwork.
Greene Trails Open, Dogs on Leashes Mandatory With Spring days finally here, General Nathanael Greene Homestead invites all to respectfully walk the Nathanael Greene Homestead trails between dawn and dusk. As the Homestead is private property, we require that all dogs be picked up after and leashed at all times. Even in the woods.
Coventry Weekend Events Saturday:
DPW Earth Day Coventry DPW is hosting their annual Earth Day Event on Saturday April 25th from 8:45am-12:00 noon. We will have designated areas for cleaning, or you can pick your own area to clean. We will also be providing coffee and doughnuts for breakfast, and pizza for lunch for all volunteers. Please contact Recycling@Coventryri.gov for further questions.
Land Trust Earth Day Come celebrate Earth Day with the Coventry Land Trust and the RI Chapter of the Sierra Club at the Merrill S. Whipple Conservation Area at 90 Sandy Bottom Road April 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a morning of learning about invasive species and keeping the trails clean and clear. There will even be a scavenger hunt for the kids. Please wear appropriate shoes, bring water and bug spray, and any landscaping tools you’d like (except chainsaws).
Horseshoes at Club Jogues it’s time for our Outdoor Horseshoe Tournament Season to begin! Sponsored by Nick Rowan and the team a Rowan Renovations It’s all at Club Jogues right here in Coventry on Saturday April 25th starting at 9 a.m.. We we will also have a food truck on hand for the day. Stop by grab a bite, a beer and check out the Rhode Island Horseshoe Pitching Association! Come Pitch With Us!
Library: Crafty Saturday Families with children of all ages can drop-in Youth Services to create a fun craft at Coventry Public Library, 1672 Flat River Road (Rt. 117), Coventry, RI. Children can visit the library from 11 am to 3 pm and use the provided materials to create a piece of art! This is a drop-in children’s program.
