WARWICK, RI — Officer Connor Bemis noticed a green Toyota stopped in the right north lane of  Warwick Avenue Nov. 20 at 12:58 a.m. stopped it on Lindy Avenue when it started moving, and found a passenger carrying fentanyl.

Bemis arrested Danielle M. Bello, 48, of 376 N. Main St., Apt. 2FL, Woonsocket, charging her with possession of Fentanyl during the stop.

After the stop, Bemis identified both women in the car, who told them the driver was taking Bello to a friend’s apartment. After speaking with them, Bemis asked the driver for consent to search the car, and the driver told him there was a crack pipe in the 2010 vehicle. Based on that information, Bemis began a probable cause search of the car and a black bag that Bello had been holding. Inside the bag, Bemis found several hypodermic needles, a crack pipe, and a clear plastic bag containing white powder.

Bemis seized the Fentanyl, later confirmed by testing and weighed at 1 gram, and arrested Bello on a charge of possession of fentanyl. He transported her to Warwick Police Headquarters, 99 Veteran Memorial Drive, and processed her on the charge. He cited the driver for stopping in the lane.

Bello was scheduled for a Feb. 26 2024 court screening on the possession charge in Third Division District Court.
