Warwick, RI — The thawing of winter snows brings with it a resumption of construction and other work on the $29.9 million Apponaug Circulator Project that kicked off last fall and is expected to wrap up in 2017.

According to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, the new roundabout at Centerville and Toll Gate Roads is next on the schedule for completion, while the most visible change in the Apponaug landscape — the removal of the water tower — is scheduled for May.

Here’s the schedule of planned work for the area for March 30 through April 4, 2015, weather permitting, as reported on the City of Warwick Apponaug Bypass web page:

  • National Grid is scheduled to continue installation of overhead electric wires.
  • A new drainage system installation will continue at West Shore and Post Roads.
  • Construction of a new retaining wall adjacent to Shippee Ave. is also scheduled.

  • Installation of new drainage  is planned at the Tollgate/Centerville Road intersection.
  • Cox Communications and Verizon are scheduled to continue relocation of overhead wires.
