WARWICK, RI — A broken water main reported Sunday night at about 9:30 p.m. blocked one lane at 536 Airport Road during the morning and afternoon commutes Monday as the Warwick Water Department made repairs.

The fix was done by about 2:30 p.m., said Highway Department Foreman Rick Gallant, but then his crew had to pave it over, then wait for it to set before the lane could be opened to traffic again. The asphalt on Airport Road is dense, he said.

“It’s a thick layer of asphalt so it takes a little while to set,” Gallant said.

The lane was expected to be reopened to traffic later that afternoon.
