CT, Coventry Wrong-Way Drivers Stopped On 95S

The Rhode Island State Police are stationed in several barracks throughout RI. Early Sunday, State Police stopped  CT and Coventry wrong-way drivers in EG and Hopkinton, respectively, charging each with DUI.

EAST GREENWICH, RI — RI State Police troopers stopped CT and Coventry wrong-way drivers, a Coventry woman and New London, CT man, on Rte. 95 South early Feb. 15, charging each with driving under the influence of alcohol, in East Greenwich, then Hopkinton.

Each of the drivers were charged with DUI, alcohol.

At approximately 1:20 a.m. Sunday, the Hope Valley Barracks received 911 calls reporting a vehicle traveling northbound on R.te 95 South near Exit 21 in East Greenwich. Moments later, troopers from the Wickford Barracks stopped the vehicle on Rte. 95 South just before the Rte. 4 split.

Troopers identified the driver as Katelynn Blood, 21 of Coventry, RI. Blood subsequently failed all Field Sobriety Tests administered on scene, and was arrested without incident, then transported to the Wickford Barracks.

Blood was later arraigned by a Justice of the Peace on the following charges:

  1. Driving Under the Influence – BAC Unknown (First Offense)
  2. Reckless Driving (First Offense)

She was released into the custody of a responsible adult with future Third District Court dates.

Troopers stop second of two Wrong-Way Drivers on Rte. 95 South

At approximately 4:50 a.m., the Hope Valley Barracks received 911 calls reporting a vehicle traveling north on Rte. 95 South near Exit 4 in Hopkinton. Moments later, Troopers from the Hope Valley Barracks stopped the vehicle on Rte. 95 South in the vicinity of Baker Pines Road in Richmond.

The driver, identified as Shakimm Curry, 35, of New London, CT,  failed all Field Sobriety Tests and was arrested without incident, and transported to the Hope Valley Barracks. Curry was held pending an arraignment this morning by a Justice of the Peace on the following charges:

  1. Driving Under the Influence – BAC Unknown (First Offense)
  2. Reckless Driving (First Offense)
  3. Weapons Other than Firearms Prohibited.

Statewide, troopers arrested six other drivers for Driving Under the Influence during that night.
