The event was attended by the Warwick Police Honor Guard and Warwick Fire Department Honor Guard, members of the Warwick City Council, Speaker Joe Shekarchi, Rep. Joseph Solomon Jr., Ri Sen. Matthew LaMountain, Sen. Mark McKenney, and Sen. Peter Appollonio Jr.
The observance, held at the park in front of Warwick Veterans Middle School at 9 a.m., was organized by the City and former State Rep. Camille Vella-Wilkinson, a retired naval officer. Rev. Robert L. Marciano gave the blessing for the event.
The venue for the ceremony is a frequent site of Veterans Day observances honoring the service of Rhode Island’s more than 63,000 veterans. In 2021, the city added a Cold War monument honoring the service of military service members during the years of the U.S. struggle against the USSR.
