When asked about Taylor, Warwick Schools Superintendent William McCaffery confirmed Taylor’s leave, but declined to elaborate on the reason.
“Warwick Public Schools confirms that a member of the district’s central office team has been placed on administrative leave with pay. This action has been taken in accordance with standard personnel procedures while the district reviews matters of concern. No further information will be released at this time, as this is a personnel issue and we are committed to respecting the privacy rights of all individuals involved. Warwick Public Schools remains focused on maintaining the integrity of its operations and the trust of our community,” McCaffrey said in an email when asked to comment on the suspension.
He later confirmed the central office team member referred to is Taylor.
The Warwick School Committee hired Jeff Taylor as the district’s new Director of Technology in 2021, following the resignation of Douglas Alexander, Warwick Post reported at the time.
Tuesday night, the School Committee named a new director of information technology, one of many reorganizing cost-cutting measures the School Committee approved. McCaffrey said that position, filled by Joseph Napolillo, the former assistant director of information technology, is separate from Taylor’s Tech Director role, not subordinate to it.
