“Charlotte’s disappearance is an active and on-going investigation. While the Detective Division remains confident in their investigative efforts to this point, they are still asking for the community’s assistance in sharing Charlotte’s photo and encouraging anyone with credible information to come forward,” Warwick Police stated on their Facebook page May 16.

Shortly after asking the public’s help seeking Lester in May 2022, Warwick Police executed court-authorized search warrants at 29 Staples Avenue in Warwick, owned by Mark Perkins, where Lester was known to frequent.  In June 2022, friends of Lester organized a search for her, launched a GoFundMe page to raise funds for a private search and created a Facebook Page dedicated to continuing to discover her fate.

Organizers of the Facebook page state they believe Lester was murdered, and claim to have identified their own suspect in the crime.
“The Warwick PD continues to work on this case. It is not a cold case. We support their efforts and appreciate all they have done and continue to do to help us find #justiceforcharlotte. However, progress has been slow. The case is now in the hands of the Attorney General, and while we appreciate their efforts, we urge them to prioritize this case,” according to a statement on the page.
