WPD: Wedding Photog Didn’t Deliver $6k Job

WARWICK, RI — On Sept. 24 at 12:54 p.m, Officer Benjamin Floyd met with East Providence Police in the WPD lobby, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive, to take custody of wedding photog Kayla Peckham, 36, of Seekonk, MA wanted on a felony charge of obtaining property by false pretenses for failing to deliver on a $6,200 video and photography job.

That WPD warrant was issued after an Aug. 21 report of fraud taken by Officer Katerina Athaide, also in the WPD lobby. At about 7:17 p.m. that night, a woman told the officer that she had paid the wedding photog $6,200 to shoot stills and video of her wedding at Harbor Lights, 10-hours of photography for $4,200 and an eight hour video for $2,000. According to the woman, Peckham failed to deliver on the photos or the video, and also failed to provide a second photographer. Though Peckham agreed to a $400 refund for not providing the second photographer, the money was never received. A videographer Peckham hired also did not get paid, according to the woman, Athaide reported.

Client: Wedding Photog Went Dark July 1

After multiple attempts to resolve the matter, the woman said, she lost all contact with her on July 1, 2025.

Ataide attempted to contact and find Peckham on Aug. 23 and also to consult her Instagram account, which had been deleted. The officer had not made contact with the wedding photog as of Sept. 11, and issued a warrant for her for one count of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses, between $5,000 and $10,000.

After East Providence Police turned the wedding photog over to Floyd, he processed her on the  charge. Peckham was arraigned on the charge in Third Dist. Court Sept. 24, scheduled for a Dec. 15 court screening, and released on $2,500 surety bail.
