WARWICK, RI — WPD Chief Col. Bradford Connor and the Community Services Division of the Warwick Police Department  have announced the 9th Annual Safe Rides Program offering sober drives from Warwick establishments this St. Patrick’s Day.

The Safe Rides Program is conducted in collaboration with the Warwick Police Department Community Services Division and the Warwick Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. The goal is to reduce DUI related crashes, reduce incidents of drunk driving, and offer residents an alternative to being arrested for DUI during the St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

Bars and liquor serving establishments throughout Warwick will be notified of the program and are encouraged to promote this free program to their patrons. People are urged to call 401-732- 0308 for a ride anytime between the hours of 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Monday March 17.

Citizen volunteers will be dispatched to establishments in the City and provide citizens who may have had too much to drink, a safe, free ride home anywhere within the City of Warwick. For more information about the Safe Rides Program, please go to the Warwick Police Department Facebook page or contact Ofc. Wenneman at 401-921-8411.
