WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police are investigating a report of a man with a musical note tattoo under his left eye who surprised a fellow shopper at the 575 Greenwich Ave. Stop & Shop with a sucker-punch to the side of the head from behind after the father of a young girl asked him to stop swearing Feb. 8.
Officer Quentin Tavares was called to the store at 4:36 p.m. that day for a report of a fight in progress, and spoke with the manager, who said that he saw a man, 5’5″ tall, with black hair and a stocky build, with a musical note tattoo under his left eye, strike another man in the store, knocking him to the floor, according to the officer’s report.
Tavares spoke with the man who had been struck, who said he’d heard the man speaking loudly, using the word “f***,” several times, which attracted the attention of his daughter. The father approached the man and asked him to use better language, and to lower his voice, since there were women and children present, including his daughter, Tavares reported.
The father turned away, and the swearing man sucker-punched him in the left side of his face as he did so, causing the father to fall to the floor. The swearing man then ran away, the father said. The father had bruising and swelling under his left eye, according to Tavares’s report.
The manager told Tavares that the man had gotten into a gold Honda Odyssey and driven away. A check of the license plate recorded for the Honda Odyssey did not turn up any results, and the man’s description could not be associated with other reports involving a gold Honda Odyssey, according to Tavares’s report. Tavares forwarded his report to WPD detectives.
