WARWICK, RI — A part-time Warwick Schools custodian turned himself in Monday on a warrant for his arrest for a laptop larceny of 10 Chromebooks from Robertson Elementary School, 70 Nausauket Road, reported to police June 17.

Laptop larceny caught on camera

The custodian, Luis Calcano Acevedo, 53, was observed in surveillance videos concealing the laptops and then transporting from inside the building to his vehicle several days prior to the report, according to the WPD.

On Monday, July 14, 2025, Acevedo turned himself in to the Warwick Police Department on a warrant for Larceny greater than $1,500 (RIGL 11-41-1). He was transported to 3rd District Court and was released on $3,000 Personal Recognizance.

A call to Warwick Schools Superintendent William McCaffrey seeking comment on the theft was not immediately returned.
