WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police report a man struck by a car on Warwick Avenue Wednesday night is in stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital, recovering from head and leg injuries.

The man, Michael Zarum, 71, of Warwick, struck near 1222 Warwick Avenue, was not in a crosswalk at the time. The Warwick Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the site and investigated the incident. The team’s report indicates a man driving a red 2015 Chrysler sedan south on Warwick Avenue struck Zarum as he was crossing the road on foot toward the west side of the street.

Warwick Fire Department Rescue personnel responded immediately, and transported Zarum to Rhode Island Hospital where he was treated for injuries to his head and leg, and was listed in stable condition.

The driver of the Chrysler remained at the site and cooperated with Warwick Police during the investigation. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors, police report.
