COVENTRY, RI — Coventry arrests and other Kent County arrests in the RI Trooper Log  May 27 – June 6 involved charges for DUI, reckless driving, and public assistance fraud.

Here are the basics on those RI State Police Kent County arrests in the Coventry area:

Kent County, Coventry Arrests May 27 -June 6

Reckless driving, Rte. 95 On Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11:48 p.m., troopers arrested Richard Sampson, 65, of 46 Potowomut Road, East Greenwich, Rhode Island for 1.) Possession of a Schedule I-V Controlled Substance (10 Grams or less), 2.) Reckless Driving and 3.) Obstructing Officer in Execution of Duty.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle accident investigation on Route 95 in the Town of West Greenwich. Mr. Sampson was transported to the Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and will be later arraigned at as a probation and bail violator.

Smithfield stop, DUI arrest On Tuesday, June 3, at 6:30 p.m., troopers arrested Craig Huguenin, 42, of 490 Fairview Ave., Coventry, Rhode Island for 1) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor – BAC Unknown – 2nd Offense 2) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test – 1st Offense. The arrest was the result of Troopers responding to a motor vehicle crash on Route 295 in the Town of Smithfield.

Huguenin was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for evaluation.  He was later transported to the State Police – Scituate Barracks where he was processed and held pending morning arraignment at Third Division District Court.

Public Assistance Fraud On June 5, 2025, members of the Financial Crimes Unit arrested James Branch, 46, of 45 Arthur St., West Warwick, Rhode Island, for:

1.) Obtaining Property by False Pretenses;

2.) Giving False Document to Public Official;

3.) Fraudulently Obtaining Public Assistance; and

4.) Conspiracy.

Branch was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released on $15,000 personal recognizance.

Public Assistance Fraud On June 5, 2025, members of the Financial Crimes Unit arrested Danica Chase, 46, of 45 Arthur St., West Warwick, Rhode Island, for:

1) Obtaining Property by False Pretenses;

2) Giving False Document to Public Official;

3) Fraudulently Obtaining Public Assistance; and

4) Conspiracy.

Chase was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released on $15,000 personal recognizance.

DUI, EG Stop At 9:15 p.m. June 6, troopers arrested Andrew Lisi, 39, of 107 Pleasant St., Warwick, Rhode Island, for 1.) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor – BAC Unknown – First Offense, and 2.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test – First Offense.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Main Street in the Town of East Greenwich. Lisi was transported to the State Police – Wickford Barracks where he was processed, arraigned before a Justice of the Peace, and released into the custody of a responsible adult.

DUI, EG Stop At 2:33 a.m. June 6, troopers arrested Enzo Pelleccione, 20, of 51 John Franklin Road, Hope, Rhode Island for 1.) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and/or Drugs – B.A.C. 0.15 or Greater (Phase I 0.168 Phase II 0.152) – First Offense.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on New London Turnpike in the Town of East Greenwich. Pelleccione was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks where he was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and released into the custody of a responsible adult pending a future Third Division District Court date.
